Common names 
Rice cut-grass, clubhead cut-grass, southern cut-grass, swamp rice grass, swamp cut grass (southern Africa), lambedora grass (Venezuela).

Description 
Perennial grass with stems up to 120 cm high that grows on fertile soils along watercourses and in swamps. Tolerates waterlogging and overgrazing. Burned to provide dry-season grazing.
Distribution 
Humid tropics and subtropics throughout the world.
