Description 
Perennial with stems up to 120 cm high and hairy leaves. Widespread in marshy areas near fresh or salt water and on sandy soils. Tolerates flooding and drought. Palatable pasture grass, resistant to grazing and trampling. Liable to become a troublesome weed in ditches and drains.
