Desempenho de bovinos em pastagens de soja perene exclusiva e green panic fertilizado com nitrogenio
In a study in 1984-88 in Nova Odessa, Sao Paulo, Brazil, Nelore and Santa Gertrudis cattle were grazed on perennial soyabean (Neonotonia wightii) cv. Tinaroo or green panic (Panicum maximum) Petrie swards. Liveweight gain was greater on the perennial soyabean than the green panic swards. Liveweight gain did not differ between breeds on the green panic pastures (331 and 303 g animal -1 day -1 for Nelore and Santa Gertrudis, respectively), but was greater for Santa Gertrudis than Nelore on the perennial soyabean sward (469 and 410 g animal -1 day -1, respectively). Both types of sward showed a decrease in daily liveweight gain from the first to the last year of the trial.
